Applied toxicological modeling, analysis, and decision support.
EcoTox LLC provides applied toxicological support for environmental decision-making, with an emphasis on defensible analysis, transparent modeling, and practical interpretation of complex environmental data. Work includes particular experience with metals and metalloids in aquatic systems, while also addressing broader environmental toxicology questions.
Toxicological and Environmental Assessment
Support for evaluating chemical stressors, biological responses, and ecological risk in aquatic systems, including interpretation of aquatic toxicity data for metals, metalloids, and other contaminants.
Example areas include:
- Aquatic toxicology
- Metals and metalloids in aquatic systems
- Ecological risk assessment
- Effects-based interpretation of laboratory and field data
- Water quality criteria and regulatory support
- Weight-of-evidence evaluations
- Technical review of environmental studies and models
Bioavailability and Toxicokinetic-Toxicodynamic Modeling
Development, review, and application of models describing chemical bioavailability, uptake, accumulation, elimination, and tissue-based risk.
Example areas include:
- Selenium bioaccumulation modeling
- Metal bioavailability models
- Toxicity modifying factors
- Tissue-residue interpretation
- Food-web and trophic-transfer modeling
- Toxicokinetic and toxicodynamic model development
- Model review and uncertainty evaluation
Statistical and Mechanistic Modeling
Quantitative analysis of environmental datasets using statistical, mechanistic, and hybrid modeling approaches, including models that support aquatic toxicity interpretation and environmental assessment.
Example areas include:
- Concentration-response modeling
- Metal bioavailability and effects modeling
- Hierarchical and Bayesian analysis
- Time-series exposure analysis
- Site-specific model calibration
- Scenario analysis and decision-support modeling
